FLIR's T840 is a high-performance infrared (IR) camera designed for use in a variety of electrical applications. It can be used to view and investigate hard-to-reach components and allows thermography professionals to spot signs of failure before the damage becomes costly. The FLIR T840 High-Performance Thermal Imaging Camera is an excellent predictive maintenance tool.
Ergonomics
FLIR’s T840 features a 180° rotating optical block ensuring comfort when using over long periods of time: the user can avoid strain by adjusting the camera to his/her needs.
The integrated eyepiece viewfinder provides comfortable and safe viewing as you scan potentially dangerous outdoor equipment form a safe distance.
Lenses used on the FLIR T840 can be used across your catalogue of cameras thanks to AutoCal™ optics allowing you to auto-calibrate your camera to accommodate the required lens.
A bright, scratch-resistant, 4-inch colour LCD display is 33% brighter than other comparable cameras as well as 4x the resolution (640 x 480 pixels) making viewing images and navigating the menu system easier on your eyes, as well as offering a better performance under challenging light conditions.
Two programmable buttons give the user faster access to commonly used, or favourite, modes saving time; also making the T840 more user-friendly is its intuitive interface, which is as easy to operate as any smartphone, and its rapid-response touchscreen.
Thermal Image Technology
The standard IR resolution of the T840 is 464 x 348 but with UltraMax® resolution technology, which is an image enhancement technology, that effectively increases the camera's resolution to 645,888 pixels. This is achieved by the camera capturing a series of thermal images and combining the data into one new image thereby quadrupling the thermal image pixels, making the IR picture easier to analyse.
MSX® technology overlays detail from a digital image (from 5 MP camera) onto the thermal image defining more detail and making it easier to identify objects.
FLIR's proprietary adaptive filtering algorithms reduce noise and create images of exceptional quality.
Annotations
Add voice notes (up to a length of 60 seconds) to images or videos using the built-in speaker or a Bluetooth headset. Alternatively, use the Image Sketch function to add visual prompts to infrared images; this feature is particularly useful when analysing images at a later date.
GPS tagging is automatically added to every image so, when working on multiple sites, it is easy to distinguish which image came from which site.
MeterLink™ technology gives you the ability to transfer data acquired by FLIR measurement instruments (such as a voltage reading) to the camera, which can then be implemented onto the infrared image for even more detail and accuracy.
The FLIR T840 High-Performance Thermal Imaging Camera is ideal for monitoring power lines and the equipment used in power plants.
