The FLIR ResearchIR Standard Software is optimised for use with FLIR’s research and development/ scientific thermal cameras. It is designed to allow the user to record, chart, graph, plot, analyse, export and share data, images and footage.
This software can be used with multiple FLIR R&D and scientific thermal cameras, allowing the user to save time and money as he/she need only learn one software for use with all of his/her cameras. Cameras connected to the user’s PC will automatically connect to the installed FLIR ResearchIR Standard Software. The FLIR ResearchIR Standard Software will automatically communicate with research and development and scientific thermal cameras whether they are connected via USB, Firewire, Gigabit Ethernet or Camera Link.
Once connected the user can record images and footage captured by the compatible camera to his/her PC. The FLIR ResearchIR Standard Software is able to support the high-speed burst modes available on an array of FLIR’s R&D and scientific cameras and will save images captured using this method to RAM. Media captured at slower logging rates is saved to the PC’s hard drive. It is possible for the user to adjust the frame/ logging rate as well as specify the period over which he/she wishes to record data.
Data recorded via the FLIR ResearchIR Standard Software can be analysed in real-time. This software is compatible with MathsWorks® MatLab which scripts directly into the FLIR ResearchIR Standard Software and provides the user with access to customised image analysis and processing.
Further to this, the FLIR ResearchIR Standard Software’s customisable user interface allows the operator to view the media, statistics, charts and graphs most relevant to his/her research.
Moreover, the FLIR ResearchIR Standard Software includes a number of analytical and plotting tools, such as boxes, lines and spots. The user is able to analyse, plot, chart and graph data for specific areas of an image or footage by adding the above analytical tools to the thermal media. The FLIR ResearchIR Standard Software can plot line-profiles, histograms and temporal plots using the data in the added boxes, lines and spots, as well as data acquired using the measurement tools. In addition to this, the FLIR ResearchIR Standard Software includes a super-framing analysis tool for investigating areas with larger temperature differences.
As previously noted, the FLIR ResearchIR Standard Software also includes a number of measurement tools, such as:
- Emissivity Calculator - for adjusting or calculating the level of emissivity
- Measurement Function Editor - for creating mathematical functions, and graphing these functions on temporal plots
In addition to the measurement functions, the FLIR ResearchIR Standard Software includes a number of calibration capabilities for adjusting the measurement and analysis tools as required. It includes customisable thermographic and radiometric calibrations with a step-by-step wizard, as well as a Spatial Calibrator. The Spatial Calibrator can be used to calibrate image pixels as well as length and area units, such as millimetres, meters, inches and feet, which are utilised when the measurement tools are engaged.
If the user chooses to export thermal images, footage or data in a Self Viewing File (SVF), the recipient will receive the media and/or data as well as access to a number of analytical, measurement and graphing features available on the FLIR ResearchIR Standard Software. These files can be opened on any Windows computer regardless as to whether the user has the FLIR ResearchIR Standard Software installed.
Alternatively, information can be exported and shared in Bitmap, CSV, 32-bit or Matlab® files. Data that has been plotted can be exported graphically in Bitmap and CSV files. Image frames can be exported in CSV, 32-bit and MatLab® files. These files can be shared with clients and/or colleagues or may be exported into third-party software programs for further analysis and reporting.
The FLIR ResearchIR Standard Software facilitates the user’s ability to record, chart, graph, plot, analyse, export and share data, images and footage. It is at once both simple-to-use and comprehensive.
