It has been reported recently that industrial technicians of the future should use the most advanced equipment available.
The Technical College of Gothenburg uses a Flir i7 thermal imaging camera to teach industrial technician students how to use thermography for maintenance inspections.
This particular college is jointly funded by the Government and Volvo, making the college quite involved with the car manufacturing industry.
The college is situated next to the Volvo production line, allowing the students plenty of opportunity to practice thermography and Volvo to ensure they are getting thoroughly trained industrial technicians.
Volvo are keen to develop modern ways of inspection and maintenance, and thermal imaging is one way of doing this as it is capable of finding many different faults in electrical and mechanical components, which would be much more difficult to find without thermal imaging technology.
The college states that thermal imaging is likely to become wider and more commonly used in the near future. They are using the Flir i7 thermal camera for their training and maintenance inspections.
The i7 is a versatile and popular thermal imager. Its small and lightweight design alongside its simple functionality makes it ideal for a wide variety of applications.
If you want to use a thermal imager for similar purposes as the Technical College of Gothenburg, take a look at the Flir i7 product page for detailed information on the camera and its capabilities.
